Why You Shouldn't Rake Leaves Right After A Rainstorm
By SAKSHI KHAITAN
Raking leaves after a rainstorm can present several challenges. When leaves get wet, they stick together, forming heavy clumps that are more difficult to rake than dry leaves.
The texture of wet leaves can also lead to slipping and falling accidents. Moreover, the exertion required to move the leaves can damage the landscape and the raking tools.
Yard vacuums and leaf blowers generally struggle with wet leaves unless equipped with robust propulsion systems, underscoring that raking them is a task better avoided.
However, if waiting for the leaves to dry is not an option, raking gently in straight lines is advised. Create and dispose of small piles immediately to prevent mold formation.
