Why The Property Brothers Avoid Laminate Countertops At All Costs

Laminate countertops can seem appealing due to their affordability and wide range of design options, but the Property Brothers recommend avoiding them whenever possible.
Jonathan says of the countertop material, "Yes, laminate is cheaper, but in many cases, you can actually take value away from a house by installing it."
Drew agreed, stating, "It frustrates me to no end when people spend their budget on a product, like laminate, that automatically seems dated — it's like throwing money away!"
Laminate can make an entire kitchen look cheap. Drew says, "If you have no other choice, at least get a laminate that's printed to look like stone. But make it a last resort."
