When To Plant A Raspberry Bush For A Bountiful Harvest
By MARCO ROSSI
Growing a raspberry bush not only makes a garden more charming but also provides fruit all season long. To enjoy a bountiful harvest, plant your raspberries in early spring.
You want to wait until the last frost has passed and the ground is thawed and workable again, with the temperature reaching at least 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
Planting it earlier may damage the bush, stunt its growth, and lead to root rot, eventually killing the plant before it bears fruits. However, you can prep the soil in the fall.
Pick an area that gets full sun and little shade, then layer the soil with compost so it decomposes over winter, packing the dirt with beneficial nutrients and microbes by spring.
