What It Means If There's Black Mold In Your Toilet (And What To Do)
By JOANNA MARIE
Stachybotrys chartarum, or black mold, thrives in toilets due to high humidity and moisture. Swift action is vital when it appears, as it can lead to health issues.
Before removing black mold, prioritize safety. Wear gloves, goggles, and a mask to protect against mold spores and chemicals during the cleaning process.
Hydrogen peroxide, with its antifungal properties, is an efficient solution. Pour 1 cup into the toilet and let it sit for 15 minutes, then scrub the bowl and flush the toilet.
White vinegar, a natural cleaner, can also be poured directly into the toilet or combined with baking soda for stubborn mold. Use 1 cup and wait an hour before scrubbing.
Prevent black mold by maintaining a clean and well-ventilated bathroom, fixing leaks promptly, and using natural cleaning solutions when needed.
