Use Peel-And-Stick Wallpaper To Give Kitchen Cabinets A Pop Of Color
By ALEXANDRIA TAYLOR
Colored kitchen cabinets are a popular way to instantly add personality to a home, and thanks to peel-and-stick wallpaper, you don’t need paint to partake in this latest trend.
Peel-and-stick wallpaper is a temporary decorative detail that allows you to reap all of the design benefits of traditional wallpaper, minus the permanence and commitment.
For this project, look for adhesive contact paper or vinyl wallpaper, both of which are ideal for the kitchen because they're waterproof and can be wiped down.
Peel-and-stick wallpapers don’t always include application tools, so you'll want a hard squeegee to help smooth the wallpaper and remove any bubbles under the surface.
You may also want a small squeegee to get into the tiny crevices of your cabinets, along with a sharp precision blade, such as an Exacto knife, to cut the excess wallpaper.
To recreate the look of painted kitchen cabinets, opt for solid-colored peel-and-stick wallpaper and cover all cabinet surfaces. To be more unique, you can cover only select parts.
For those who prefer a wallpaper pattern, large-format prints will create a mural-like look, while smaller repeats will look busy and bold.
However, if you don’t want to lose the wood texture of your cabinets, your best bet is to seek out wood-grain peel-and-stick wallpapers to switch out the wood finish with ease.
