Upgrade Simple Plastic Storage Drawers With This Fancy Wooden DIY
By ROSE OKEKE
Since wooden furniture can be expensive, try upgrading a basic, inexpensive, plastic dresser into a wooden piece by encasing it in a DIY wooden chest.
This way, you can stay within your budget while still getting the plastic dresser to have your preferred wooden finish or to match the rest of the room's wooden decor.
For the hack, TikTok creator @faithhopehome used two plastic dressers, priced at $20 each at Walmart, and a 4-by-8-foot utility panel from Home Depot, priced at $19.
You'll need the wood cut to size, so its total cost will vary per the size of the dresser. Then, gather sandpaper, wood filler, strong adhesive, and wood stain.
Join the dressers with glue, then glue the cut pieces of wood to form a box. Fill its sides with wood filler, sand it down, and apply the stain for a gorgeous finish.
You can also paint the wooden chest instead and design it your way. Then, glue the dresser to the inside of the wood encasing and customize it with antique-style label pulls.
