Unclog A Kitchen Sink In A Pinch With This Simple Trick
By TRINITY ARCHIE
A clogged kitchen sink is frustrating, as you can't use it and standing water harbors bacteria and foul smells. Luckily, you can at times unclog it yourself even without any tools.
Frontdoor Virtual Plumbing Expert James Burroughs exclusively advised House Digest that you can sometimes use just your hands to clear food from the sink's basket strainer.
Burroughs explained that you may need tools if the clog is further down, “If the issue is beyond the sink bowl itself, you will have to utilize a plunger or [...] drain snake.”
“First, conduct a visual inspection, then clear any visible debris and lastly, [use] a plunger,” Burroughs advised, warning never to do this with a drain with a garbage disposal.
“If standing water is present, [...] take care to see that there are no knives or other sharp object you could injure yourself on as you attempt to clear the drain,” he cautioned.
