Turns Out This Cleaning Staple Can Unclog Your Toilet In
A Pinch
By RHIANNON FAITH IRELAND
Instead of panicking and calling the plumber, save money and stress the next time your toilet clogs by using hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and vinegar to clear the blockage.
This trick works by using the reaction between baking soda and vinegar to clear any debris stuck in the drain, while the hydrogen peroxide helps kickstart the unclogging process.
Use gloves and remove as much water from the toilet as possible before pouring ½ cup of baking soda and ½ cup of vinegar into the bowl. Leave it for a few hours before flushing.
Remove the water again, add ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide to the bowl, and let it sit for up to two hours. Pour hot water down the drain, then flush to remove lingering ingredients.
After flushing, the water should settle to a normal level, but if it doesn’t, repeat the entire process. If the clog persists, you’ll need to call a professional plumber for help.
