A match dispenser is easy to make, but it hinges on finding just the right jar. Grab one intended for canning, as the metal ring and lid combo used to seal the jar is crucial.
Trace a circle with the jar's lid on a box of matches, ensuring that a strip of the striking paper takes up most of the space. (It helps if you flatten out the matchbox first.)
Cut out the circle, then make a small hole in the cardboard that measures wider than a pencil. This opening will allow you to "shake out" a match without removing the entire lid.
Put the cutout on top of the jar, replacing the solid lid. Fill the jar with matches, then screw the metal ring into place, securing the lid with the striking paper facing out.
