Try This DIY Chicken Wire Hack To Protect Your Garden From Deer

Deer among vegetables
Your precious plants don’t stand a chance against a deer’s hungry appetite, but luckily some cheap chicken wire is all it takes to safeguard your space against the creature.
Aisles in hardware store
To start, pick up some wooden posts, chicken wire mesh, and galvanized poultry net staples from your local hardware store. Measure out your space to determine how much you’ll need.
Chicken wire fence
Deer can be crafty, so ensure the fence is well-secured and at least 4 to 6 feet tall. If you know the species of deer terrorizing your yard, you can tailor the height to them.
Close-up of chicken wire mesh
When choosing your chicken wire, opt for a smaller gauge number — for example, 20 Ga instead of 25 Ga — which indicates a denser mesh, as this will be a more effective deterrent.
Man digging holes for wooden posts
Dig holes around 10 feet apart and plant the posts in the center, making sure they’re straight. Next, wrap the chicken wire around the posts and secure them in place with zip ties.
Person trimming chicken wire
Pull the wire tight and use the staples to pin them firmly to the post. Do a final walkthrough, trimming any wire overhang, smoothing out the jagged edges, and removing the ties.
