Transform Your Home Office With This Built-In IKEA Ivar Hack
By CLARA MUCCI
Create your own stylish home office cabinets that give the effect of built-in cabinets, without the cost and hassle, by recreating this DIY hack using several IKEA Ivar cabinets.
IKEA Ivar cabinets are made from sturdy pine wood without details or finishes, so you can customize them the way you want. You'll need enough cabinets to fill your whole wall.
Before installing your cabinets, you can choose to customize the wall behind them by adding a platform and a baseboard, wainscoting, paint, wallpaper, or a whiteboard.
You may want to leave legroom for a chair so the cabinets can double as a built-in desk. Measure how much space you need to accommodate this and leave a gap between the cabinets.
Assemble your cabinets and position them along your wall. If you've chosen to leave space between them to create open shelves, you can now slide in and secure some wood boards.
Next, use wood glue to install a large wooden board across all of the cabinets to create a continuous top surface. Finally, prime and paint the cabinets and add decorative knobs.
