TikTok's Simple Hanger Hack Makes Painting Cabinets Easier Than Ever
By JACQUELINE DELIBES
A stellar DIY cabinet paint job is wonderfully satisfying. Prepping and priming are important steps, but this spray painting hack will give your doors a truly professional finish.
Spraying avoids the textured look left behind by brushes and rollers. Use a water-based lacquer rather than normal paint, and choose a stunning color for an even better result.
For this hack, you'll need a rack, 1-inch cup hooks, hangers, wood filler, a drill, a paint sprayer, and lacquer. To protect against paint fumes, use an industrial strength mask.
Clean, sand, and prime the doors first. Then, prepare them for spraying by drilling two holes in the bottom of each door, 2 inches in from the edges, and insert your cup hooks.
Hang your cabinet on a hanger, place it on the rack, and go to town, swiveling the hanger to spray both sides. Once dry, remove the hooks and fill the holes with wood filler.
