TikTok Can't Get Enough Of This Remarkable IKEA Dresser Hack
By ALEXANDRA RODRIGUEZ
TikTok user and interior designer Drew Michael Scott (@lonefoxhome) shared a video where he transformed IKEA's TARVA dresser, which is made from unfinished pine wood.
In the video, Scott details the necessary materials: IKEA's 6-drawer chest TARVA dresser, some neutral paint for the drawer face, frame, trim, and raffia cloth.
Other necessary materials include a paintbrush and roller, scissors, plastic sheets, heavy books, a saw machine (or handsaw), a staple gun, and some trellis trim.
Set up either outside or in a garage. In the video, Scott starts by removing the wooden drawer knobs and painting the drawer faces with light gray paint.
After the paint dries, Scott loosely measures out the raffia cloth to cover the drawers, leaving about an inch or two of space from each end to use for the trellis trim.
Scott adds a layer to the drawer's surface with Mod Podge, applies the raffia cloth, and sets a heavy book on each end. He repeats this step for all six drawers.
While the Mod Podge dries, cut the drawer trellises: two longer pieces for the top and bottom, and two smaller pieces for the sides of the drawer. There will be 24 pieces total.
Scott then lays the trellis edgings on the drawer over the raffia cloth and staples each end down. He puts the drawers back, paints the trim light gray, and installs the hardware.
