Throw Your Pillow Case Away Immediately If You Notice This
By COURTNEY ISOM
While your pillowcase needs to be washed once a week, it also needs to be thrown out at some point. If you notice the quality of your pillowcase has changed drastically, and it doesn't bounce back even after a good wash, it's time to throw it out.
Over time, your pillowcase accumulates germs, saliva, dead skin cells, makeup residue, and dirt, which makes it a happy home for dust mites. Just like all things in your household, pillowcases require maintenance and need to be disposed of when the time comes.
You spend a good amount of time with your face implanted in your pillowcase, so washing your pillowcase and changing it out every now and again should be a simple task. Sleep Foundation recommends throwing away your pillowcase every one to two years.
