Think Twice Before Using This Popular Cleaner In The Washing Machine
By ROBYN HUNT
The internet is full of cleaning hacks. Some work like a charm, but others might leave you dealing with a sudsy disaster — such as putting dish soap in the washing machine.
Using dish soap in your washing machine won't give your clothes a proper cleaning and could leave you with dingy laundry since it doesn’t contain surfactants like detergent.
Unlike detergent, when soap meets hard water, it creates soap scum which isn't friendly with fabric. In fact, it can slowly dull your clothes and weaken the fibers.
If you want to use dish soap to remove stains on cotton fabrics, use it as a pre-treatment instead. Just squirt some right onto the spot and gently massage it into the fabric.
