The Wreath Alternative That Will Bring The Spring Season To Your Front Door
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
Instead of the usual wreath, try your hand at creating a charming spring hanger for your door. It takes less than 10 minutes to complete, and it’s easy to adapt for other seasons.
All you’ll need are some faux flowers, ribbon, tissue paper, and a smallish umbrella with a curved handle, which you’ll still be able to use for its original purpose if needed.
Select ribbon and flowers to match your umbrella and the season or occasion. Use any springtime colors for your ribbon and faux spring flowers, like tulips, and faux greenery.
Hang your umbrella on the door so you can view and adjust your design as you work. The umbrella must not be fully open or tightly closed but shaped more like a cone.
Next, line the inside of your umbrella with tissue paper, letting it stick out the top, then add your faux flowers and greenery and arrange them in an attractive bouquet.
Tie the ribbon in a bow around the umbrella to hold everything in place and cinch the middle. You can also add other accessories, like a fake bird's nest or plastic Easter eggs.
