Profits at Home Depot seem to keep soaring, no matter the current state of the economy. This is because even when homes stop changing hands, people will continue wanting to improve where they already live.

The Home Depot theme song is going viral on TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, and just about every other social media app you can think of. Social media users love applying the catchy, instantly recognizable instrumental theme song over dad moments, like fixing a tire.
Destroy Not Donate
After hurricanes Irma and Maria ripped through the Caribbean, Home Depot destroyed huge amounts of merchandise to collect insurance money, rather than donating the goods to their hurricane-ravaged neighbors. This choice infuriated many locals who were desperate for supplies.
The Founders
If it weren't for restructuring efforts at former home-improvement store Handy Dan, Home Depot as we know it today never would have existed. Founders Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank were both fired from Handy Dan in 1978 and hit the ground running, founding Home Depot within 3 months.
Racist Incidents
Black employee Maurice Rucker was fired when a white customer hurled racist insults at him, and he responded with, “You’re lucky I’m at work.” Home Depot originally doubled down on their choice to fire him, but they did eventually offer him his job back after the public backlash to the blatant racism.
