The Unlikely Ingredients That Will Fix Your Scratched Wood Furniture
By WILL FORD
Wooden furniture, a staple in most households, is highly susceptible to dings and scratches. However, a vinaigrette scratch remover can help restore the beauty of wooden surfaces.
The oil component, such as olive oil or vegetable oil, moisturizes and nourishes the wood, adding shine while helping to fill in gaps and enhance its natural color.
Vinegar, on the other hand, is a cleaning tool that acts as a mild acid, helping to remove dirt, grime, and other impurities from the surface of the wood.
Before using this mixture of oil and vinegar, prepare the furniture piece by cleaning off any dust and debris. Use a soft cloth or brush to remove loose particles from the area.
Then, in a small bowl or container, combine one part vinegar and three parts oil. Stir the mixture well to ensure the oil and vinegar are thoroughly combined.
Saturate a lint-free cloth in the mixture. Gently rub the cloth over the area, applying light pressure to get solution into the scratches, and follow the direction of the grain.
After letting the solution sit to penetrate the scratches, use a cloth to wipe off any excess mixture from the surface of the wood. Enhance the shine by gently buffing the surface.
