The Smart Way Joanna Gaines Chooses An Entryway
Paint Color
By ALEXANDRA RODRIGUEZ
When it comes to choosing the right paint color for the foyer, Joanna Gaines says, "You need to think about what feeling you want people to experience when they come inside."
Entryways are smaller than other rooms, so it’s easy to change the color. Gaines says, "I really want to challenge people to experiment and have fun."
Gaines suggests using lighter colors if "you're aiming for a nice inhale/exhale moment." You can paint the walls white and style with a wooden bench, a coat hanger, and a long rug.
Adding pops of color through the decorations highlights specific areas of the small space. For example, cool tones can elevate an entrance with white walls and wood furniture.
A dark entryway has its own perks. "When you step into a darker entryway, you feel like you're encapsulated in the space," says Gaines. "It feels like a warm embrace."
Deeper tones can be tricky, but you can mix and match dark colors with brighter hues. If you like neutral tones but want a moodier entryway, opt for dark neutral colors like brown.
