The Simple Fix That Brings More Hummingbirds To A Dollar
Tree Feeder
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
Hummingbirds will love Dollar Tree’s cute plastic hanging feeder, and you can make it more comfortable for them by adding a simple perch that will encourage them to stay longer.
Create your perch with spare wire or twist ties from bread loaves. Join three of the small wires together to form a longer piece, then twist the two ends together to form a circle.
Wrap this wire loop a few times around each of the feeder’s plastic flowers, tucking in any sharp points. Hummingbirds only weigh a few grams, so these perches will support them.
Alternatively, cut the hook off a wire hanger, bend one end down to hang up the feeder, bend the other end up to hang the feeder on, and let the excess wire stick out as a perch.
