The Property Brothers Want You To Skip This Popular Countertop Trend
By MARCO ROSSI
Countertops can be costly, so you might be tempted to install cheaper epoxy counters during a remodel. However, the Property Brothers urge you to go a different route.
Jonathan Scott shared in an Instagram video, "Don't epoxy your countertops. [...] It never lasts. It starts to look even worse once it begins to peel away."
Epoxy or resin-covered counters have recently become popular due to TikTok. Properly maintained, they can last up to 10 years, but you must be careful how you treat them.
You can't let spills linger, or they will stain; you can't put hot pots and pans on it without scorching the surface; and you need to avoid harsh cleaners, or you'll fade it.
Instead, you can try Formica or laminate countertops. They're a bit more durable than epoxy countertops, and since you don’t DIY them, you won't get bubbling, peeling, or chipping.
