The Popular Cleaning Agent That May Be Turning Your Toilet Seat Yellow
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
While bleach is a powerful disinfectant often used in bathroom cleaning, scrubbing your toilet seat with it isn't a great idea.
Chlorine bleach is corrosive — a chemical reaction can occur between it and the surface of a toilet seat — which can cause its color
to turn yellow permanently.
Using bleach on a surface that comes into regular contact with your skin
can also cause irritation. Instead, try cleaning the toilet seat with antibacterial soap, water, and a rag.
There are several options available for those who prefer all-natural cleaning products, such as lemon juice or white vinegar combined with water.
