The Natural Scent That Will Chase Spiders Out Of Your Basement
By MARCO ROSSI
Spiders have a sharp sense of smell, which helps them find their next meal, so smelling something offensive will instantly repel them.
Eucalyptus essential oil has a menthol smell, created by the compound eucalyptol, which works as a natural insecticide and insect repellent.
However, for this hack to work, make sure you choose eucalyptus oil with a label that says “essential oil” or “100% pure essential oil.”
Next, grab a handful of cotton balls and soak them in the oil. You want to add around 10 drops per cotton ball to ensure the scent is saturated and stays pungent.
Place these cotton balls in areas where you notice spider webs, spider activity, or near openings they may be getting in through. Refresh the cotton balls once per week.
