The Moldy Issue You Should Know Before Buying A Flexzilla Garden Hose
By Kelly Catlin
Flexilla hoses are advertised as drinking water safe — a huge pro since many hoses contain lead, BPA, brominated fire retardants, phthalates, and other toxins.
Some coined the brand "mold-zilla" as its exterior casing can get riddled with black mold. Flexzilla claims its hoses are mold-resistant, so this has made some customers cautious.
Mold-resistant isn't the same as mold-proof, which is frustrating for consumers who purchased a product in hopes of keeping dangerous mold spores at bay.
To help prevent mold and other harmful bacteria from growing, dry your hose and keep it out of direct sunlight, as this can damage the exterior and cause it to crack.
