The Major Drawbacks Of Planting Fountain Grass In Your Garden
By EZEKIEL MAINA
Despite the versatility that fountain grass offers, it is hard to control once released. Its invasiveness can extend beyond your garden walls and make a nuisance of itself.
Since fountain grass seeds are easily spread by wind, rain, and critters, they can spread to your vegetables, flower beds, and even gaps in the concrete.
Additionally, fountain grass can become potential kindling for wildfires in the summer heat, and its razor-like leaf edges can inflict pesky injuries if you’re not careful.
Unlike other ornamental grasses, fountain grass can’t be killed by any herbicides. Instead, stick to non-invasive varieties like pink muhly grass and deergrass.
