To grow potatoes, add layers of compost or potting mix, seed potatoes, and mulch or straw in the basket. This helps the potatoes to sprout through the holes in the basket.
The method makes harvesting much simpler and eliminates the need for extensive digging. Just tip the basket over a tarp and sift through the soil to collect the produce.
