The Lighting Alternative That's Cheaper Than Fluorescent Bulbs
By KYLE SCHURMAN
Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) are commonly used in households, but issues like buzzing noises may necessitate costly repairs, making LED fixtures a viable alternative.
Replacing CFLs with LEDs under kitchen cabinets can improve brightness and eliminate buzzing. To replace, first find the junction box, likely somewhere behind the cabinet.
Turn off the breaker and replace the CFL wires with the LED wires, securing them with wire nuts. Then, attach the LED under the cabinet and turn the breaker back on.
In addition, a new LED fixture costs about the same as it would to repair a CFL fixture. So, a new LED fixture could give you long-term value compared to repairing what you have.
