The Lawn Mowing Mistake That Prevents You From Killing Crabgrass
By Annette Hird
As with many gardening concerns, prevention is better than having to deal with the problem once it occurs. These tips will help you stop making your crabgrass problem worse.
Grass that's mowed too short won't grow as well because it can’t produce a well-developed root system. This allows crabgrass to easily become established and take over your lawn.
For a weed-free lawn, it's recommended to adjust your mowing height to between 2 and 3¾ inches, depending on the species of grass that you're growing.
This height rule is crucial for a healthy and luscious yard, but means that you might have to mow every four to five days as your lawn has its seasonal growth spurt in spring.
