The Gorgeous Grass That Will Add Color To Your Landscaping
By JAHAIRA ARTHUR
Pink hair grass, or pink muhly, is a perennial native to North America that’s easy to grow and low maintenance. It sprouts blush-colored plumes that turn brown for an autumn look.
This ornamental grass can grow up to 4 feet in height when planted in well-drained soil and given at least six hours of direct sunlight, though it can survive in some shade.
It is tolerant to harsh environmental conditions like poor air quality, dry soil, humidity, drought, and high salt concentration. Plus, pests and deer aren't fond of this plant.
Plant companion species such as Pennsylvania sedge and little bluestem nearby to boost soil health, increase disease resistance, and add calm greens to this vibrant foliage.
You can also increase the flare with compatible flora like rough blazing star or spotted beebalm, which can liven your garden and won’t take away from the pink grass' unique look.
Use this plant in flower pot arrangements for a balanced container garden, or alongside narrowleaf zinnia in a cascading spiller or woodland sunflower for soil-hiding filler.
