The Easy DIY Unsellable Houses Uses To Upgrade A Boring Wall
By KRISTY BOWEN
On HGTV’s "Unsellable Houses," star Leslie Davis created a unique feature with floating shelves in a corner, providing an area for storage or display without taking up floor space.
Davis made the shelves out of different sizes of scrap wood and attached them to the living room wall, giving the homeowners a perfect spot to put decor items
and plants.
To make your own floating shelves, arrange various-sized planks in an L-shaped design to fit a corner, using the widest pieces as shelves and the thickest pieces as shelf supports.
Once you’ve screwed the wood slats into your walls, position the shelves alternately on both walls and screw them to the wood slats so that the shelves are firmly supported.
You can either leave the wood unfinished as Davis did, or paint your shelves to match your design scheme. They particularly suit more contemporary, laid-back, and boho aesthetics.
