The DIY Mushroom Ottoman That's Great For Small Spaces
BY JACQUELINE DELIBES
If your ideal decorating aesthetic is maximalist yet cozy cottagecore, try making this DIY mushroom ottoman to create more storage and add some extra seating.
Store-bought mushroom ottomans can run from $50 to several hundred dollars, but with some crafty thrifting, you can create your own more affordable version.
Start with a round storage ottoman, and gather your supplies, including a wood round wider than your ottoman, foam, batting, a glue gun, a staple gun, a marker, and scissors.
Start by making two foam circles to fit the wood round. Glue them together, attach them to the wood round, and then use your scissors to shape the foam into a mushroom cap.
Cover the cap with batting and staple it to the underside of the wood round. Do the same with your fabric, and then attach the mushroom “cap” to the lid of the ottoman with nails.
Finish your ottoman by covering the base with the fabric, and use the staple gun to secure it. Then enjoy your cute cottagecore ottoman with the added benefit of secret storage.
