The DIY Home Bar You Can Make With An Ikea Brimnes Cabinet
By ASHLYN NEEDHAM
A home bar adds luxury to your living space and ample storage for your drinks and barware. Use this DIY hack to create your own budget-friendly version with Ikea Brimnes cabinets.
With their depth and capacity, these cabinets make a great base for home bars. They’re versatile too, so you can choose between a black or white finish and solid or glass doors.
Picture how the finished bar area should look before you begin. YouTuber HS Design Studio used blue shiplap on the wall above the units, but paint or wallpaper works just as well.
As well as the cabinets, you’ll need a countertop — an Ikea butcher’s block is ideal. For the floating shelf, cut or buy a length of wood the same width as the bar, but shallower.
Build the cabinets using the instructions, then line them up against the wall. As in the YouTube demo, you might want to add some framing or custom-made units to fill any gaps.
Complete the project by cutting and fitting the counter, then install the floating shelf above. Finally, fill your cabinets with bar supplies and enjoy your stunning new storage.
