The Dining Room Tradition HGTV's Nate Berkus Believes Is Outdated
By ALEXANDRIA TAYLOR
While remodeling a 1920s Tudor on a recent episode of "The Nate and Jeremiah Home Project," Nate Berkus noted how formal dining rooms no longer reflect a modern family’s needs.
To remedy the closed-off space, Berkus opened the room to the kitchen and living room with large doorways, connecting it to the other spaces and easing the home’s flow.
Other families can take inspiration and create their own informal dining space by adding a nook or banquet to their own combined kitchen and dining areas.
For those still trying to figure out what to do with their dining room, consider making it a home office, game room, library, music room, or exercise area.
