The Clever Bamboo DIY That'll Hide Your Neighbor's Fence With Style
By KRISTY BOWEN
Try this inexpensive, easy-to-install DIY project shared by TikToker @phoenixandtheocean. It uses bamboo to raise your fence and screen your neighbor’s unsightly fence from view.
Bamboo fencing is an attractive and budget-friendly alternative to installing expensive new fencing, and it’s quicker than growing climbing plants or planting bushes.
Measure how much fencing you’ll need to cover your side of the fence. Purchase rolls of bamboo fencing in the shade, size, and weave you want from Target, Home Depot, or Amazon.
Simply attach the bamboo to the existing fence with mounting screws or galvanized wire for a chain-link fence. You can also trim the bamboo to fit an uneven or slanted fence line.
To mask a wall, build a simple wood frame and attach the bamboo fencing to it. Then, paint the bamboo and add torch lights or wall planters to create the aesthetic you prefer.
Bamboo is durable but can fade or sag with time, particularly in sunny or wet areas, so treat it with a UV-resistant sealant and replace it when it becomes discolored or damaged.
