The Best Way To Give Your Mattress Topper A Much Needed Clean
By RHIANNON FAITH IRELAND
Over time, your topper could start to build up sweat and moisture that causes smells and dust mites. Thankfully, you can easily clean them with just baking soda and a vacuum.
First, remove the topper from the bed to get all-around access to clean it. Then, use your vacuum to remove the dust and lint, ensuring you have a smooth surface to work with.
Take a small amount of baking soda to thinly cover the whole topper and allow it to do its job for at least eight hours. Go in with a vacuum once again to remove the white powder.
By this point, your mattress topper will look as good as new, and since baking soda is a natural odor-diffuser, it'll also bring out any trapped moisture causing lingering smells.
Alternatively, you can fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and lightly spray your mattress topper. Don't go too crazy,
as you don't want to oversaturate the material.
The vinegar will neutralize odors and lift stains, but if the lingering, unpleasant smell of vinegar worries you, follow up by coating your mattress topper
with a linen spray.
Though some toppers are washing machine approved, most are too delicate to be thrown in the machine, which is why the baking soda or the vinegar hack works
best with these fabrics.
