The Best Way To Clean Marble Countertops
By ZACHARY MCCARTHY
Marble countertops have a tendency to be tricky to clean in order to maintain their beauty, but don’t fret, since you most likely have the proper cleaning supplies in your kitchen. First off, never use acidic cleaners on marble surfaces, and instead opt for dish soap, water, and a soft, gentle cloth.
Start with soapy dish water to wipe down the marble countertop, then wipe again with plain water, and finally remove all the moisture with an ultra-absorbent microfiber cloth to prevent water stains. If there are tough stains, let hydrogen peroxide or baking soda sit on the stain, and then wipe it off.
Not only are marble countertop products pricey, but you need to make sure you don’t buy a natural stone cleaner with a pH above 10, since that will dull your countertop’s appearance by etching the marble. To test a product out, use it on a small part of your countertop to check if it’s safe, but at the end of the day, it’s up to you whether you’d like to use specific products or just plain soap and water.
