The Benefits Of Adding Laundry Detergent To Your Mop Water
By JAHAIRA ARTHUR
To make the crucial task of mopping your floor easier, all you need is some laundry detergent, a dishwasher pod, Fabuloso cleaner, and hot water.
The laundry detergent tackles the dirt because of its oil-dissolving enzymes, the dishwasher pod adds to the detergent’s effectiveness, and the Fabuloso leaves a fresh scent.
Start by vacuuming or sweeping your floor. Then, put 1 tablespoon of powdered laundry detergent, one dishwasher pod, and 1 tablespoon of Fabuloso in a mop bucket.
Fill the container with enough hot water (not boiling) to dilute the solution. You may be tempted to add more detergent for some extra cleaning power, but a little goes a long way.
Melissa Homer, chief cleaning officer for MaidPro, told Family Handyman that mopping your floor with too much soap can leave "a slippery, streaky, dirt-attracting residue."
Once the solution is done, mop as usual, then flush the dirty mop water down the drain or toilet. Be sure to clean your mop head afterward so it’s ready for when you need it next.
