The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Installing Laminate Countertops
By TRINITY ARCHIE
Laminate is a great material for countertops because it’s more affordable than other options and comes in a wide variety of designs. Plus, it’s easy to install and low maintenance.
According to Irakli Khizanishvili, CEO and owner of Proslit Tile & Stone, "Laminate is non-porous and doesn't require sealing, making it resistant to stains and easy to clean."
However, Khizanishvili explains, "Laminate is more prone to scratches, burns, and chips compared to stone or solid surface materials." The material is tough to repair, too.
Laminate doesn’t stand up to heat or last longer than other countertops. It also won’t boost your resale value, as it’s "considered a lower-end material," Khizanishvili says.
