The Adorable Garden Decor That Comes From A Dollar Tree Popcorn Bucket
By COLLEEN VANDERLINDEN
At just $1.25 for two, Dollar Tree’s plastic reusable popcorn buckets can be repurposed as budget-friendly flower pots to bring a pop of color to your patio, porch, or windowsill.
To make your planters, start by drilling four or five drainage holes in the bottom of the bucket and filling it with well-draining potting mix. Then, add one plant to each pot.
Flowering plants like French marigolds, alyssum, and bacopa will do well. You can also use foliage plants like dusty miller and coleus, or herbs like basil, rosemary, and oregano.
Dollar Tree also offers an 8 ¾-inch-wide square version of these popcorn buckets for $1.25 each. They’re ideal for growing bigger plants, such as lettuce, peppers, or spring bulbs.
You can leave the bucket’s fun design as is or customize it with Rust-Oleum plastic primer, paint unique designs with acrylic paint, then add at least two coats of outdoor sealer.
