Save Your Plants From Mealybugs With This Simple DIY Spray

Signs you may have a mealybug infestation include yellowing leaves, stunted new leaf growth, a white waxy coating on the leaves, and clumps of fuzz-like mealybug masses.
Mealybugs can cause a lot of damage to your garden, but you can make an easy, affordable, and eco-friendly repellent spray using ingredients like garlic, onion, and cayenne pepper.
The spray includes ingredients known for their aromatics, pungent flavors, and spice. The sulfur in garlic and onions and the capsaicin in cayenne pepper will send pests running.
Blend a whole bulb of garlic, a small onion, and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper together until it’s a paste. Add a quart of water, blend again, and let the mixture steep for an hour.
Strain the liquid through some cheesecloth and add a tablespoon of liquid dish soap, mixing it all together in a spray bottle. Keep the spray in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
Target any part of the plant where white spots can be seen, making sure to check the underside of leaves as well. Repeat throughout the week as needed, checking plants regularly.
