Revive A Urine-Stained Couch
With These Household Essentials
By JENNY TINDER
Since urine comprises bacteria and uric salts resistant to most cleaning methods, treat their stains with vinegar, water, and baking soda for best results.
Vinegar breaks down uric acid in urine to help remove stains while combating bacteria and viruses. Baking soda, being a base, counteracts uric acid to act as a potent deodorizer.
It's crucial to clean urine accidents as soon as possible, as they can leave ugly yellow stains by deeply penetrating soft surfaces, complicating cleaning and odor removal.
Wear gloves and use a damp cloth or paper towel to absorb as much urine as possible. Then, blend four parts of warm water with one part distilled white vinegar in a spray bottle.
Cleanse the stained area with a cloth saturated in the vinegar mix. Then, mix a cup of baking soda with 20 drops of lavender essential oil, tweaking
its quantity per need.
Sprinkle the concoction over the cleaned area and let it sit overnight. Vacuum away the residue in the morning and brush with a dry towel. Repeat the process if the odor persists.
