Remove Stubborn Limescale With No Problem Using These Ingredients
By KENNA O'ROURKE
Steam
Use a steam cleaner, boiled kettle, or steam iron to loosen light limescale build-up before scrubbing. For heavier limescale deposits, combine steam with other methods.
To dissolve deposits using the acetic acid in vinegar, wrap cotton pads soaked in vinegar around your tap, or attach a cup of vinegar to the tap and let it soak for an hour.
Soak a detachable showerhead in a bucket filled with a one-to-one solution of hot water and vinegar, or hang a plastic bag filled with the solution on a non-detachable showerhead.
For a gentler method, mix water and baking soda and apply it to limescale, or make a paste with 2 or 3 teaspoons of baking soda and water for stubborn limescale.
Rub half a lemon on the limescale, or apply the juice of a lemon with a cleaning cloth for hard-to-reach areas. Let it sit for a while for the citric acid to take effect.
To descale glass shower doors, apply a thin layer of regular white toothpaste containing fluoride, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub gently with a sponge.
