Refresh Your Mattress With This Handy Essential Oil
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
Using lavender oil, which is known to be antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, and even antiseptic, is a simple way to freshen up your mattress and get rid of unpleasant odors.
Simply, combine ½ cup of white vinegar, ½ cup of water, and 15 drops of lavender oil into a spray bottle. Shake well and spritz it all over your mattress.
Conduct a patch test of this hack in a small area of your mattress, if you have allergies or sensitive skin. As for pets, lavender oil is safe for dogs but toxic for cats.
Leave your mattress uncovered for at least three hours after spraying. The essential oil can also be diluted with other carrier oils to help make it easier on sensitive skin.
To combat odors along with excess moisture, combine ½ cup of baking soda with 10 drops of lavender oil. Spread the mix over your mattress and vacuum it after a few hours.
