Maximize Space In Your Small Garage With This Lawn Mower Storage Tip
By KYLE SCHURMAN
If you're looking for a creative way to store your walk-behind lawn mower in your small garage, consider placing it underneath a workbench using a DIY pull-out storage shelf.
As shown by TikToker @bossanovawoodworks, you can make a pull-out shelf the perfect size to fit underneath the workbench. Alternatively, you could purchase a roll-out shelf.
The TikToker doesn't specify how you can build the roll-out storage shelf, but it appears to have a sturdy plywood base that supports the weight of a walk-behind lawn mower.
It seems to use regular 2x4s for the rectangular frame supporting the plywood. Use angle brackets to attach the 2x4s or make miter cuts to create the proper angles for the corners.
The best part of the frame is a hinged ramp. After attaching the frame to the plywood base, the TikToker looks to have added an extra piece of plywood to the frame with hinges.
This allows them to extend the plywood ramp and roll the mower off the shelf without ever having to lift it. You may have to fold the mower's handle to fit it on the shelf.
Alternatively, you could buy a roll-out shelf that can accommodate the mower, like the 24x48-inch furniture dolly with six caster wheels offered at Home Depot for about $115.
