Matte Vs. Glossy Countertops: The Pros And Cons Of Each
By SAKSHI KHAITAN
When it comes to countertops, homeowners will often focus on which material appeals most, but choosing the finish that fits your practical and aesthetic needs is just as key.
Glossy surfaces can detract from other kitchen features, so if you’d rather your countertops weren’t the focal point of your kitchen, matte might be a good choice.
A gloss counter reflects light, making your space feel more spacious and hide marks better. They are easier to clean, but a dark, matte surface can require less maintenance.
More widely available, gloss will generally be cheaper than matte. Also, a matte finish on natural stone is achieved by sandblasting, a more costly process than polishing.
