Mask The Smell Of Cleaning Vinegar With This Essential Tip
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
If you love white vinegar's cleaning and disinfecting power but can't stand the smell, add essential oils or infuse it with ingredients like citrus peels to give it a better aroma.
To use essential oils, simply add 10 to 20 drops of oil like lavender or citrus directly into a spray bottle of vinegar, or use one part water and one part vinegar as your base.
If you have a bit more time, you can infuse your white vinegar with lemon, orange, or other citrus peels to hide the acidic smell. You can also use fresh herbs or pine needles.
Add citrus peels, pine needles, flowers, or herbs like rosemary to a glass jar. The more ingredients you have, the better the scent will be, so it's best to fill the container.
Pour vinegar into the jar until full and leave it in a dark area to steep for at least 10 days or up to a few weeks. Then, strain the liquid into a spray bottle and start cleaning.
