Martha Stewart Highlights The Downsides Of Keeping Palm Plants Indoors
By V BAWA
On a recent episode of her podcast, Martha Stewart discussed why most palms don’t do well indoors, explaining that these tropical plants primarily thrive in high humidity.
Palms need a humidity level of over 50% to flourish in an environment, which isn’t always feasible indoors where cool, dry air is preferred.
Stewart also mentioned that they do not like air conditioning drafts and that brown leaf tips are a sign that your specific variety of palm isn’t suitable as an indoor houseplant.
Much like Stewart, you can either transplant your palms outdoors or choose a variety — such as ponytail palms — that will thrive in your indoor conditions.
