Hilary Farr reveals all her strongest opinions on her HGTV show “Tough Love.” Although wood cabinets are making a comeback, Farr is adamant they have no place in a modern kitchen.
As a fan of simple yet luxurious designs, Farr believes that stained wood cabinets distract from other focal points in the kitchen. The only exceptions are cool walnut grains.
The top-shelf hardwood can be pricey, however, making painted cabinets a better alternative. Farr also recommends incorporating wood through smaller pieces, like cutting boards.
You can also mount open shelving, bring in wooden furniture, or experiment with two-tone cabinets to add that natural wood vibe to your kitchen without overwhelming the space.
