As adorable as raccoons can be, these mischief makers can cause major damage to your yard in record time. Luckily, you can keep them away by sprinkling around some Epsom salt.
Epsom salt, also known as magnesium sulfate, irritates the nasal passages of raccoons. Simply sprinkle the salt around the areas you've seen them or want to keep them away from.
This includes covering the perimeters of vegetable gardens, trash cans, fruit trees, pet food bowls, and even underneath and around porches and decks.
For this method, it’s best to purchase Epsom salts in bulk since you’ll need to reapply the salt after its scent wears off, or after rain washes it away.
