TikTokers are painting their washers and dryers to create a fun, unique look for the laundry room. It can also help cover rust and scratched or peeling paint on older machines.
It’s best to move your machines outside to avoid getting paint on your walls or breathing in paint fumes. Otherwise, just remove the washer and dryer covers and paint them outside.
First, sand the entire surface of your machines with 150- and 200-grit sandpaper until it’s smooth with no flaking paint, then wipe it down with alcohol and a cloth.
Repair any dents or holes with a body filler, then add your coat of primer according to the directions on the can. For Slick Stick primer, apply two thin layers, then let it dry.
Finally, paint your units with appliance epoxy paint, using a paintbrush or spray paint. Ensure you apply the paint smoothly, and you might need several coats for a lighter shade.
